Morel Truths

 

Like mindless zombies searching for brains; spring mushroom hunters are searching out brains of their own. Except these brains are mushrooms that sometimes carry the appearance of a brain... furthermore a hunter can not just “mindlessly” search for them. These mushrooms are hard to find if you do not know where to look.

 

So what is this mushroom you ask? It is a Morel, and this is what I developed my entire Documentary about: how to hunt, cook, and preserve these ridiculously great tasting mushrooms. The film and this website is everything Morel, from science to folklore, with testimonials and interviews from some of the most successful hunters around and experienced mycologists to date.

The first edition of the series walks the viewer through the fungal jungle and into your kitchen where you learn the best ways to eat and preserve your findings. No exact locations will be given on where a successful hunt was, but the details of conditions it was found in will be discussed thoroughly. The intent of this film is to inform as well as entertain and can be used as a how-to guide on finding your own Morels Mushrooms.

 

In 2018, We plan to start production on Edition 2. This Edition will focus more attention on each region of North America and how the Morels grow differently depending on where you live. While exploring the other regions, we also want to find out what other local popular mushrooms they have to pick. This extension to our content will only happen if we have a successful Kickstarter campaign, as it will cost over $25,000 to produce in a short time.
